Recipe for happy healthy Kids!

Frank  Luntz is an American political consultant, pollster, and Republican Party strategist. His most recent work has been with the Fox News Channel as a frequent commentator and analyst, as well as running focus groups after presidential debates. I had the privilege of hearing him speak at a conference recently.  Look at the checklist below and see if you are providing a nourishing  environment for a happy, healthy child.

  1. Do you have dinner with your kids? You already know how passionate I am about this subject.
  2. Do you take them to church. Kids will learn how to behave and show respect better towards themselves and others.
  3. How often do you check your child's homework? This shows that you care about them.
  4. Do you go on trips with your family? Put away the phone and have real and meaningful conversation with your kids? Whats their best friends name? Their teachers name? Do you know the answer to these simple questions?
  5. Do your kids tell you the truth of where they are going?
  6. Do they participate in a team sport? So many important facets can be learned through playing team sports.
So, ask yourself these questions. If some areas need a little tweaking then why not start now? It's never to late to make changes. =)

Healthy habits for kids and Recipe blogs I LOVE!

I am so passionate about helping kids create healthy eating habits at a young age. I have been a nanny for yrs and am a substitute teacher now as I finish up my teaching degree. Stats show that the prevalence of overweight children ages 6-11 has TRIPLED!! Parents, you play such a vital role in your children's lives. Little eyes are always watching what you do. Applaud yourself for making healthy lifestyle changes in your own life, because as you do this your children will see the benefits of eating healthy and exercising and want to be like you. Say no to fast food, or try just having it once a wk!! I know life gets busy and evenings are a hectic time , but try sitting down as a family for dinner at least 3 times a wk. It is a great time to reconnect and shows your kids that you care. Put AWAY your phones for 15 min and have a convo with your kids! Growing up as busy as we were playing sports we still managed to have family dinners a couple times a wk. I will cherish those special times. Most importantly STOP buying junk food for your kidos and fast food every night of the wk!!Yes, let your kids treat themselves, but not everyday. They will thank you later when they reach high school and adulthood and don't have to fight the battle of the bulge and get on high blood pressure and other meds. 70% of the population is obese!! I am more than happy to be the minority in this case!!  Sorry for the rant! I am just so passionate about this. Kids eat what you buy them. They can't drive to the store themselves, so provide them with healthy and yummy foods. Even make the memories of cooking together!!

Weightloss for life!! Unlock your genes to fit in those skinny jeans!!

Tired of fighting the battle of the buldge and trying EVERY diet out there? I know I was, thats why I took a simple genetic dna test to determine what lifestyle change I needed to make that would help me reach my goals. It's NOT  a diet, but truly a lifestyle change that was specific to my needs. Read below for more info and see how you can unlock YOUR skinny jeans!!

Know YOUR genes:

Just as researchers understand how genetics determines your height, eye, and skin color, they’re beginning to understand how your genes affect your ability to lose weight.

Research shows that people following a diet matched to their genotype actually lost more weight.

By taking the Inherent Health® Weight Management Genetic Test, you’ll unlock the personalized plan that is right for you – either Carb Reducer™, Better Balancer™, or Fat Trimmer™.

MY results

I was sooo excited to take the guess work out of the game and get my results back!!! The results showed that I am a better balancer!! Ever wander why a diet might work for you,but maybe not for someone else? It's because they are eating wrong for their gene type. For example, my dad actually GAINED weight on a high protein diet. He felt sluggish and just yucky. Wanna know why? After getting his results back he found out that he was  Fat Trimmer and that's why a high protein diet didn't work for him, so he switched to how he should actually be eating and saw immediate results!!

I'm backkkkkkk!!

So, I took a little break from blogging , but kinda miss writing, so I am backkkk!! Even though I haven't written in awhile this blog is still pretty knew. You can see that  there are few posts ,and I was kinda actually shy about letting friends read it and putting myself out there. lol, so don't judge me for the grammatical errors because I can assure you that is not my fortay.

So, let me start off by telling you 2 healthnut oopsies  that happened to me this weekend. I went out of town to an amazingg conference in Kentucky called Impact. I try to eat as healthy as possible and HATE fast food( unless its someplace like Moes, Chipotle, Jasons Deli, or F2O), so I always pack my own snacks. I premade my snacks the night before my trip and put them ina cooler for the ride up there. Some favorites to munch on are apples, pretzels, salsa, cheese strings, hummus, veggies, flatout bread with laughing cow cheese, salad, yogurt, nutrilite snack bars, flavor water, and tuna. My family picked up fast food, but I opted out and had veggies, hummus, my flatout bread and tuna. Wellllll, lets just say healthnut oopsie #1, opening up tuna in your hotel bathroom makes your hotel room smell rank!!! My family didnt appreciate the stench, but I was happy!! ahah but there is a price to pay for being healthy right?

On saturday we had a break in between sessions of our conference, so while everyone caught up on some much needed z's I hit the hotel workout room to get my sweat on. I came back to the room to chow down on my salad that I had brought with me and stored in our hotel fridge, because who wants to eat fast food and feel disgusting? Not this girl!! Well, lets just say, the thermomemter on the fridge was turned up all the way, so my salad had icesicles!!! My broccoli was completely frozen!! Can you say disgusting? All i could do was laugh. So I ended up going  to Chipotle for dinner and created a yummy salad there which ended up being fine. After the session that evening we got back to our hotel pretty late, maybe 11:30 and I was ready to get my munch on. So, I went to the fridge to grab my yogurt and it was yup, you got it, frozennnn! So, mistake #2 and lesson learned.....make sure the temp is turned down on the fridge unless you like to eat icesicled lettuce and have frozen yogurt that taste like ice.

Wanna know how a healthnut goes "Pack'n" here is how. Pack, pretzels, veggies, salsa, and hummus in your purse. =)

At the conference I got to meet Celebrity Chef Jason Roberts. Not gonna lie, I was kinda smitten by his cute New Zealand accent. He said,  "eat 80% good, and 20% naughty" def a good tip. Here is a pic of us!!!

Well, thats all folks!! It time to relax. Have a fabulous evening!!

Soul-tox

Soul-tox a detox for your soul:

Breaking wrong soul ties is one of the hardest things to do. A soul tie, is an emotional bond or connection that you have with someone one. Maybe you are in a wrong relationship that you know the Lord is telling you to get out off? Or a toxic friendship that is dragging you down? Soul ties are  powerful, deceiving, tormenting and keep you entangled in a destructive web. When you spend a lot of time with someone and share yourself with that person emotionally, or physically, you expereince soul ties. When that relationship ends you might experience pain, anguish, misery, and anxiety over that ended relationship. Well, honey, it is time to break free from that wrong attachment and stop reliving the memories from that relationship.  All you see are memories and hurt, but God sees the BIG picture. A tormented mind is not a mind of Christ.  He wants to set you free once and for all!!! I read in a book Make Your Dreams Bigger Than Your Memories by Terri Savelle Foy this quote, " God will not advance your instructions beyond your last act of obedience. If you're crying out for freedom from your past, and you want God to show you His will for your life, I have the answer. Go back to the last thing He told you to do and check to see if you did it. If you didn't, He will keep taking you back to it until you finally decide that God's way is the only true way to true life. "
